J1 Summer Work Travel Sponsorship Application

  • Applicant Information

    You are completing an application for sponsorship consideration for A Cultural Exchange Service, Inc (“ACES”). You must have all required information and supporting documentation to upload before you begin. ACES will only approve sponsorship to eligible participants who have received job offers from vetted and approved employers.


    Participant Eligibility: You MUST be over the age of 18 and a current student enrolled fill-time in a post secondary accredited institution. You must have no previous criminal records, be of good physical condition and be financially able to sustain yourself while you are on the program.

    Participant Required Uploads: The following supporting documents must be scanned to a single pdf and uploaded as part of the application:
    *Participant CV
    *Passport Bio Page
    *Student Status Confirmation
    *Professional Reference from current employer if returning, or from previous employer, teacher, coach, otherwise (references from family or friends are NOT acceptable)
    *Police Clearance (where employer requires)
    *HealthScreening (where employer requires)

    Employment Eligibility: The employer must complete a “Seasonality Survey” and must have legitimate “seasonal needs.” (This means that they experience peaks in their season that require additional staff that do not displace full-time American workers) The employer must also be willing and able to submit a copy of a current business license and workers compensation policy, and to complete and issue to participants a completed job offer on ACES Employment Agreement.

    Employment Required Uploads: A copy of a signed job offer and housing agreement (where applicable) are also required. Where housing is not offered through the employer, you must have housing plans outlined.

  • You must be currently enrolled in a full course of study in an accredited post-secondary institution (non-vocational) at the time of application.

    Supporting Documentation is required before sponsorship can be offered. Required Uploads need to be scanned to a single pdf and must include the following:

    Participants in the summer work travel program are only eligible to participate during their university set summer break as indicated by the institution and within the window of opportunity as determined by their home country. Exceptions cannot be made regardless of university permission.

    The employer point of contact will be entered into SEVIS and must know that they may be contacted by Department of State officials.

  • Pre-Departure information must be reviewed and the last page must be signed and uploaded as proof that you have read and understand the program clearly.
